  1. Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.

  2. I don’t know how much you enjoyed reading Isaiah along with 2 Kings, but might I suggest we read Jeremiah along with 2 Chronicles? I like the way the history books give context to the prophets and the prophets give God’s thoughts about what was going on in the life of Israel ( and more specifically Judah in 2 Chronicles and Jeremiah as well) that is given in the history books.

I also wonder how many people are accessing the link above to read the scriptures on Bible.com. Would it be ok if we just kept posting 2 Chronicle 5, but we understand we are reading Jeremiah 1-5. My thought is we could read 5 chapters of 2 Chronicles and 5 chapters of Jeremiah alternately. Let me know what you think……

  3. I think it would be helpful to read Jeremiah along with 2 Chronicles to have a better historical context.

  4. The ark of the covenant was certainly the central article in the temple. It represented the presence of God with His people. Remember the various things that happened when the ark was taken by the Philistines and mistreated by certain Jewish people as well. Remember David transported incorrectly with dire consequences on the one who tried to steady it when it appeared to be falling. David learned His lesson as did Solomon as they had Levites carry the ark, as well as assembling a procession before it with singing and the blaring of trumpets. It was a fitting presentation of such an essential piece. And God honors it by filling the temple with His glory. This is the same glory that fills us, through His Spirit that dwells in us making us the temple of the Holy Spirit. What an awesome privilege and the mark of God’s presence with us.

  5. Wow … an awesome worship experience !!!!!! A vision of worship in heaven …

11And when the priests came out of the Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves, without regard to their divisions, 12and all the Levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, their sons and kinsmen, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood east of the altar with 120 priests who were trumpeters; 13and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the Lord,
    “For he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever,”
the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

  6. I had the same response as Bob did with the description of worship. It sounds like that at some point the worship was interrupted when the presence of God fills the house of the Lord and all of the priest ‘could not stand to minister’ because of the cloud.
