1 Then King David said to the whole assembly: “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great, because this palatial structure is not for man but for the Lord God. 2 With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God…..Continue Reading

  1. 1CHRONICLES 29
Bold leadership shows that one person’s commitment to righteousness same as today can make positive changes and Spiritual revival in the church. That is very exciting! We should always put God first when things are bad. We should always examine our hearts our habits and what we put first. It shows when we all worship together there is great joy!

  2. Worshipping God leads to sacrifice and giving of all things, our time, talent, treasures and our hearts. We are not to let our left hand know what our right hand is doing when we give, but David tells people of his gifts to set an example of what giving looks like and the Israelites follow suit. How awesome that the transition of power from David to Solomon is made in the context of this worship and being captivated by all that God is and all that God has done. Solomon is set top to be successful and God helps to make that happen. And David passes with recognition of the way He honored God and all that he did in his life to lead well. We know he was not perfect, but he was a man after God’s own heart.

  3. God told Solomon in chapter 28 be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord your God that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever and serve him with wholehearted devotion, and with willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understand every motive behind the thoughts, if you seek Him, He will be found. To read Ecclesiastes, to watch as a movie, Solomon, full of wisdom wealth and power and then to walk away from these promises and pursue worldly interest, sad. Leaving him with words here, if not followed, worthless, empty, no meaning, unless he returns to. The only true meaning in life is to serve and be devoted to God. .

    1. Reading your comment also reminded me about how Solomon’s descendants lost control of the land as a result of his sin. After Solomon’s death there is a civil war where the 10 tribes to the north of Israel split off and form their own independent kingdom.

  4. David was a great man of God and a strong leader. He certainly was not perfect, but he was an example of what great things God can do in the life of someone who is obedient. Even in his last days as king he is teaching the people about giving and the importance of recognizing everything we have comes from God and so we are just giving back what He has already freely given.

  5. “Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the Lord; and King David also rejoiced greatly.”
    ‭‭I Chronicles‬ ‭29‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The people give willingly from their hearts to the house of the Lord. David offers worship to God and acknowledges that all that they give, even from their heart, belongs to Him. I think this is a perfect picture of Gods sovereignty and man’s free will and responsibility.
