  1. Solomon was humble in his request for wisdom to rule over God’s people. He recognized all God had provided he and his father up to that point and wanted to be sure and continue the strong and wise reign of his father and God saw that and not only provided him with that wisdom but also all the wealth he could have requested but didn’t.

  2. God told Solomon ask me for anything and I will give it to you! Solomon only asked for wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
11God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire to take care of your people I’m giving you riches wealth and honor such as no other king has ever had.

  3. Solomon asks God for wisdom to judge His people.

I also thought of James 1:5.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

  4. Solomon does what every king and leader should do: seek the Lord and worship Him. And God meets him and asks a question, better than the wishes granted by any genie. Oh that we would have the wisdom to ask for wisdom..but Solomon does. How essential wisdom is for life. I too thought how glad we can be that God offers it in abundance to all who ask and believe. And in the spirit of seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you, God grants Solomon all the things that a typical human would have asked for. And boy does He bless!! What a good and gracious God we serve!!
