  1. How important it is for us to know God’s word. To keep His word in our hearts and mind. To speak with His words on our tongue. If we keep His word and promises with us in all we do we will behave better, we will make better choices, and we will live a life that glorifies Him!

  2. How appropriate it is to have a Psalm dedicated to the word and standards of God. How important it is for us to not only read the word but hide it in our hearts and allow it to guide our lives. How beneficial to our minds. hearts and souls to be comforted, assured and fulfilled with all the word communicates to us. And may we not just read it but trust it and obey it. We will be better off as well as others as we find ourselves at peace because we rest in His promises and then are not effected as much as the various things that confront us in this life. The Word certainly helps us keep our eyes on Him!

  3. The Psalms can be used as devotions throughout much of the year. It is filled with praise and word of God. There is much to learn in it. I remember as a young man just after I was brought to Jesus at the age of 20 in 1973. One of the earliest verses that I remember memorizing was Psalm 119;9,11. In the RSV [ How can a young man keep his way pure. But guarding it according to His word. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.] Yes the RSV and not the KJV which I am now. A few years latter I change over to the KJV. It was recommended that I switch so I did. It was so long ago that I forgot what my first Bible was. Any ways my point was I memorized these verses. My desire was to walk with Jesus and be the person He wanted me to be. One of the Biblical stories that stood out to me was the life of Joesph when he was sold into slavery by his brothers and how the Lord used him to save Israel. How he was mistreated, attacked, and even lies that Potiphar`s wife told about him which sent him to prison. But he kept looking to the Lord and was used to interpret dreams. Always be faithful and not complaining. Also being a servant to those around him. Hope the young people read this and take it to heart. With the Lord’s help anyone can memorize scripture. Just a little work and asking the Lord to help. God bless all.

  4. While reading Psalm 119 this morning, I was thinking of the law as a “school master”, probably because I am studying in Galatians for our next women’s study. Psalm 119 is so repetitive and focused and diligent to God’s law! David repeats over and over, the qualities of God’s law, his precepts, ways, testimonies, judgments, commandments…how many words can you come up with to describe God’s law? But before Christ, before the giving of the Holy Spirit, one must be diligent in the flesh to remember God’s law. That is how the Jews knew and obeyed the Lord, it was difficult…impossible, it showed certainly man’s inability to live perfectly.

“But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
