Reading along with us in 1 Samuel and Mark? Here’s today’s reading:
Mark 16 (NIV)
Jesus Has Risen
1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. 2Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”….Continue Reading

Jesus rises from the dead and no surprise that people struggled to believe without seeing for themselves. This is not a common occurence or even an occasional one! People die and stay dead so it is something that people would understandably struggle to believe and yet that is what we choose to do everyday. Faith is believing something we can not see, feeling and trusting something we can not understand. We proclaim that faith, share that faith, and pray that the Holy Spirit will touch others and help them to believe what they can’t see and they will know it happened and happened for them!
Mark 16
Well Jesus does exactly what He said He would do. In three days, He rose again showing He had victory over death and sin. And the stone was rolled away not to let Jesus out, but to let others in to verify what God had done. And I just love what the angel says, why are you looking for Jesus here….He is ALIVE. So go tell everyone else and they should meet Him where He said. And these spurious verses are interesting. They certainly do not sound like Mark or the rest of the Bible in terms of what is mentioned. Odd that people would take it as Scripture and follow its practices…..
What do you mean? Which are not scripture?
Many believe that Mark 16:9 to the end are late editions and are not considered Scripture….
Any better news. Jesus overcomes death. And we will to. As he said. I have the power to lay my life down and raise it up again. One angel inside the tomb. Other accounts 2 angels inside. Another an angel sitting on the stone. Always loved reading that one as to say. Just rolled an 2 ton stone. That was easy. Now I’ll just take a rest. Angels all around to give the message. Jesus had rose from the grave. Without this our faith is futile. Like what dr. David Jeremiah says. When Jesus walked out of tomb. He step on satans neck. And said. Nice try.
Mark 16
Mark 16 – Jesus did exactly what he had talked about. He rose from the dead. Then he gave power to the disciples to heal and to preach the Gospel to the world. We need to share that good news as well, we need to proclaim the reality of his resurrection and the assurance we have because of what he did for us. We have God’s grace when we put our faith in Christ Jesus and remember what he did by living for him and sharing his word and sometimes it’s not always easy and we will be rejected as Jesus was but we can’t let that stop us.
He has Risen!!!
Mark 16
Mark 16
Today I was reading Matthew 21. I was particularly focused on “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.””
Matthew 21:22 NIV
On the way to the tomb, they asked who will roll away the stone? Praise God there was no need to worry about this, because Jesus had risen from the dead. And he sits at the right hand of God his Father. We can go to him anytime because he LIVES. 1 John 3:24 (NIV) The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
Jesus wants to tell others about Him. Jesus was with His disciples for 40 days and the disciples got to see Jesus show many signs that He was alive after His resurrection. He ate and talked with them but also could appear with them without opening a door. He was not a ghost, but He did have a transformed body. We will be like Him in this for we also will have transformed bodies. 1 Cor. 15. The disciples got to see Jesus taken up to Heaven in this form. Acts 1:10,11 tells us that Jesus will come back in the same way that they saw Him leave. In the clouds. God bless.
Mark mentions some of the other accounts of encounters with Jesus after his resurrection, specifically Mary Magdalene, who sees Him before he has gone to the Father (it seems that Jesus takes a detour), and the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. I don’t see the accounts as contradictory, but actual different experiences that these individuals had at different times.
