Psalms 105 (NIV)

1 Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
2 Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
3 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

  1. Psalms 105 is a reminder of God’s faithfulness to His people. All He had provided in way of protection, promise, and physical needs met. Giving them strong guidance like Joseph and Moses and providing food when they were hungry.
    God cared for His people then and He cares now and yet so many rebel and forget God’s provision and protection and then wonder why life is so trying when they have stepped outside the will of God for their lives.

  2. Psalm 105, an accurate summary of the history of Israel, from Abraham to the Promised land.

    This is just one passage that summarizes old testament history, there are notable passages in Acts. It suggests the saints of old made it a point to memorize Scripture. I remember asking a very young Sunday school child to tell me what happened -could have been Noah, Abel, or Ethiopian eunuch- and that child explained exactly what occurred! I am not saying verbatim, word for word memorization. This child recited the text, in order, with every salient detail that should be recalled. That little elementary kid had the intelligence level exceeding that of a college graduate! I told him/her so. I have experienced many such recitations, on the fly.

    Moral of the story is that you don’t have to memorize John 3:16 verbatim, word for word, but you should be able to relate the primary points accurately. Psalm 105 is precisely accurate, yet not verbatim. There is a passage in Isaiah stating God’s word never returns to Him void, when faithfully communicated, it will have the desired effect. Be encouraged, Living Hope! I Peter 3:15 -gy

  3. David mentions all the miracles done to bring his people to the promise land. Same he does individually as a child of God till we enter the promised home

  4. A call to Israel to remember how faithful God is to His promise to Israel. That He always remains faithful even when they go after other gods and grumble and complain against the true and living God. He keeps giving them chances to repent. Of course God had this all written down for not only their benefit but ours so we may learn and apply the truths of His Word to our lives. That we may walk with Him. Peace be still and listen to His voice.

  5. If anyone should have recognized the value and validity of believing and following God it would be the Jews. He was so faithful to them, and not because of their behavior, but because of the covenant He had with Abraham. It sounds a lot like the favor that we have with God because of Jesus, huh? And so the Psalmist here recognizes the praise and honor due God for all the ways He provided, guided and manifested Himself to and through the Jews throughout their early history. A fitting thing to pass along in the song book of Israel so the Jews would remember His faithfulness in all future generations…..

  6. This psalm describes some amazing things that God has done for his people, Israel. He fulfills all his promises. “He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations.”
