Psalms 104 (NIV)

1 Praise the Lord, my soul.
Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
2 The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
he stretches out the heavens like a tent
3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters...............Continue Reading

  1. What a powerful psalm magnifying the glory of God! A current subject of personal inquiry, is whether or not we are body, soul and spirit, and precisely what they are. God created all flesh and plant material gave them life. Here, 104:25-30 makes it clear in my mind, that God is the source of life, in this passage, called “spirit.” Without spirit, the creature returns to dust.

    Not conclusive evidence that “spirit” is always just “life” by definition in every occurence in Scripture. Life spirit, that enables dust to animate, whether plant, animal, or human, is not good or evil by nature.

    Great psalm! So still seeking answers! Just sharing my thoughts….-gy

  2. The beauty and balance of nature is something to marvel. God’s design within individual organisms and their relationship to all other things around them is beyond our capacity. Such an amazing earth he has created and all the living things in it and to think those might give credit to such a meticulous design to some random act of science! God is the creator of all things and while we may take part in destroying those designs there is always still a fingerprint of God in every living thing and when you stop to think about it like we do when we read this Psalm it is truly overwhelming!

  3. God is the God of creation. He makes things as He wants. He is a God of order but also likes variety. He has made hundreds of kinds of creatures, humans, beasts, fowls, other winged creatures, sea beasts, fishes, dragons, dogs, cats, apes, etc. Remember dinosaurs are land animals by definition but were called dragons in the Bible and in history and throughout the world. Dragons were also sea beasts and flying raptors. I brought this up for in verse 26 it mentions the Leviathan which is one of God`s creations. [ There go the ships; there is that Leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.] Job 41;1-34 is the description of the Leviathan. For that matter in Job 40 there is a description of an brontosaurus which is now called an bratasaurus. I am not sure of the spelling. When God made kinds He made it possible for each kind to adapt to their surroundings. This is why for example you have bears that look different and even eat differently throughout the world. However they always stay in their kind which are bears. Never into a sheep or anything different. Always a bear. Same with all kinds. Anyways my point is that God is an awesome God. He can do whatever He wishes. He is a God of humor. Have you ever seen some of these funny looking creatures/ God bless all.

  4. How absolutely wonderful is God’s creation! All that happens in it without our notice or effort just because what He has established and what He continues to sustain is truly amazing. It is just full of beauty, power, creativity, intelligence, planning, provision, balance and care. It truly does speak of the glory and character of God. How foolish to observe and receive from all that is in it and not recognize Him for it! How foolish to use it in a way that is inconsistent with what He says. We are the highest expression of His creation and yet we are the most independent from Him. How sad. The writer here is wise to recognize and praise God for all that we observe in creation. How interesting to imagine how He did it and how He continues to make things happen. How right it is to thank Him for all that is provided for us through it. If we can agree that creation is great, how much greater is the creator? May His glory endure forever!!! May what He has created continue to point us to Him and give us new reasons to sing, be glad, be thankful, be humble and be obedient.

  5. What a beautiful Psalm. It reminds me that we depend on Him for everything…everything. He determines whether we live or die, whether my garden succeeds or fails, whether their is food or famine, peace or war.

    I can’t help but think of the verse that says that He has given us everything for life and godliness. It might cause some to roll their eyes, but I can’t help but look at the weeds in my garden and research what they are good for for the body. This is a relatively new interest for me. We have been brainwashed into thinking that we need modern medicine in a convenient pill, but everything man makes is from existing elements. There are so many common plants that work…chemically…to achieve the same results and they have been here since creation.

  6. God is the creator of all things; the heavens, the waters, the landforms, all creatures great and small. They all look to the Lord to provide for them. Praise God, rejoice in his goodness, it pleases him when we meditate on all his wonderful attributes. “Be still and know that I am God” says the Lord.
