  1. So many analogies exist in creation that point to the glory and wonder of God. As the Psalmist here is looking around Jerusalem and seeing the mountains that are there and seeing their size and strength and stability, he says that’s what a believer is like when they trust in God. Because God is not shaken when the wind blows and the rains come, like the mountain, the ones who believe in Him are not shaken either. And look at the mountains that surround Jerusalem and provide protection, that is like the protection that God gives us as well. And then this praise leads to prayer and desire for the righteous to reign in Jerusalem, and for God’s hand to be upon it. The peace that Israel may gain today will be temporary until Messiah comes to establish His throne there and provide a permanent peace that will run through His millennial reign to the peace established in the NEW Jerusalem!

  2. 1Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
    2As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.
