  1. 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

    I love this verse! To know God is to know His power, His mercy, His love and leads to respect and reverence and a desire to serve not because we have to but because we want to in appreciation for all He has done for us….unconditionally! But those that turn away are fools for their desire is to be able to go about their wicked ways instead of accepting the truth of God and the need they have for Him in their lives.

  2. I can’t help but think of our modern world and particularly those who use others for their benefit. They certainly have not hearkened wisdom’s call and do not fear the Lord as they should. The reason why the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom is because until we get the nature of our relation to God right, we cannot understand any of His truth. We must respect Him and hold Him in a position of honor because that is what is true and what He deserves. It is not a cowering fear that He calls for but a deep respect and awe that lets Him make the determinations about things because we really don’t have a clue and He does. That will help us recognize the deception that is in the world and the danger that comes from following in sin’s and the fool’s path. Once rejected, it is fitting for wisdom to mock and say, you have made your bed, now lie in it. I am just not sure it is fitting for us to do the same though….but we should make judgements (decisions) about what is right and true according tp God’s wisdom so we don’t get lead astray, not so we can judge others for what they are lacking…..

  3. 23Repent at my rebuke!
    Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
    I will make known to you my teachings.
    24But since you refuse to listen when I call
    and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,
    25since you disregard all my advice
    and do not accept my rebuke,
    26I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you;
    I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
    27when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
    when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
    when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
    28“Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
    they will look for me but will not find me,
    29since they hated knowledge
