Reading along with us in Micah? Here’s today’s reading:
Micah 3 (NIV)
Leaders and Prophets Rebuked
1 Then I said,
“Listen, you leaders of Jacob,
you rulers of Israel.
Should you not embrace justice,
2 you who hate good and love evil;
who tear the skin from my people
Micah’s warning here is for the leaders. God takes leadership very seriously this chapter makes that very clear. God is present with Micah because he is speaking God’s word and following God’s plan but He says He will be silent or even bring confusion to false prophets and the leaders that do not lead people in a Godly manner.
We are stewards of what God entrusts to us here on earth so when we are put in a position of authority or leadership all the more important to lead people in ways that are righteous and bring glory to God.
Micah 3 is one big melting pot of nastiness. Israel had lying prophets to whom the people would rather listen. The rulers, by their cruelties to the citizens, are as ruthless torturers. In thus, they think it is right. The Lord will not let it stand.
Living Hope folks, I don’t know about you, but this is happening right now in America at all levels of citizenry & government, by and large. And I am personally upset with what I see and hear in the news. I am frightened for my grand and great grandkids, and their parents, as there is a concerted effort to openly pervert, physically harm, and destroy their identity. I spare you further details. God will not let this stand either. Moral of the story is that history repeats itself, lest I dare think, “oh that was wicked Israel, it doesn’t apply today.” Famous last words.
Not happy with my country’s definition of right and wrong, gordy BTW, hard enough for me to walk in Christ too.
Amen, Gordy!
The prophet Micah is speaking boldly for he is full of the spirit of the Lord. He is declaring to Israel their sin. [ verse 8]. He is saying more of what he said earlier. May we also walk in his fulness on a daily basis.
Be careful Amy about adding something to God`s [ Gap Theory] when God`s word is very clear that He created the earth and everything else in six days and rested on the seventh day. After each day it is very clear that each day is an actual day. The Gap Theory is contrary to the Word of God. It says that dinosaurs lived millions of years before which would be incorrect. This theory is Christians way of appeasing the evolutionist that mankind came from apes. In the fossil records there are to mind sets God`s creationist view Word of God] and man`s view [ evolution or humanistic view] that doesn`t want to believe that there is a God. He wants to be his own god. So when looking at the evidence they look at it differently. Evolutionist have to tact on millions of years for without it they wouldn`t be able to explain any of it. We have God`s Word and therefore the answers for God tells us. Or is He a liar. We know that He is always true for he is truth. This is why I mentioned dinosaurs with cancer, etc. For if dinosaurs lived millions of years before Adam and Eve why was there sin before Adam and Eve. We know that God said that Adam and Eve sinned and brought sin into the world. This is why Jesus died on the cross. This is so important for if there was sin before Adam and Eve then Christ died for no purpose. This is why we have to be so careful of human theory. When it is contrary to God`s Word we know it isn`t true. Yes I am very aware of the descriptions of two dinosaurs in the book of Job and what they were. I also know that is evidence of dragons throughout history and around the world. And how mankind battled them. All the statues of these dragons and the writings about them. Sorry I had to respond to the comment of the Gap Theory. When I was in Bible School I learned all about all the theories and so much more. I wasn`t trying to be disrespectful but I had to say something. God bless you Amy and all our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Peace.
Micah 3
It’s all been said above. It also breaks my heart to know what has been written is what’s happening before our eyes. My heart is broken to think in 50 years what my grandchildren will be facing in this country. I pray that we will be taken up before persecution of Christians begin in the United States of America. Wishful thinking. PLEASE pray for this country
Dennis, thinking out loud, what would it look like if every Christian received the same boldness in Spirit, and proclaimed the gospel openly? Amen, and oh me. -gy

Micah 3
The injustice and wrong treatment of people is addressed here. It is no wonder that God would be silent to them as He will not be a participant in their evil. And how sad when people use their position for prophet or determine their treatment of people or a situation based on what they stand to gain as opposed to acting according to truth. That is not what marked Micah’s life and oh that it might not mark ours either. Far better to be filled with God’s power and Spirit, to care about justice and tell the truth even when it may cost us something. This is especially true when we speak out against those who claim to speak for God, or conduct evil in His name. Israel was unique in being God’s people, having a history filled with His activity with and for them, and yet now they have forsaken Him and His ways, but they still thought He was with them. Micah and the other true prophets of God were sent to say God cannot participate in the evil path they have set their foot on and were walking merrily on their way.
These people think that because the Lord is their God, they can get away with being wicked. We need to be careful not to do this ourselves, thinking that if we have God’s grace we can engage in sinful living and he will protect us from the consequences of it.
