The Mountain of the Lord
1 In the last days
the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
and peoples will stream to it.

  1. After judgment of the leaders of Israel, the false prophets and leaders, priests and prophets in general in chapter 3, Micah has a salvation and restoration message from the Lord. Living conditions under the salvation/restoration periods seem preferable to the evil times of deceit and cheating, etc. prior to judgment. Wonder why we don’t choose to “walk in the name of the Lord” always.

  2. Now Micah 4 sounds a bit more promising than 1 through 3, where God is now bestowing blessings upon Israel. If I didn’t know any better, 1:1 – 4 sounds like either the Millenial Reign or the New Heavens and New Earth! God foretells of peaceful times ahead for His people. Thing that perplexes me about prophetic writing, is I find it difficult to discern if history panned out that way, or remains yet future? Perhaps some of the vision is more comparative than exact. Was there a time past when Israel lived in such peace and attitude of worship? So much of prophesy is seeing through a glass darkly. This was a calming chapter, as much as I could understand. -gy

  3. In the last days which will be during the 1,000 years reign of Christ Jesus there will be peace. He will be reigning on the mountain of mount Zion. There won`t be war during this time but rather peace. He will also judge many people and rebuke strong nations. The people will be farming and using pruning hooks in their vineyards. They will sit under their vine and fig tree. They will no longer be afraid for they will be walking in the name of the Lord. And this will be forever. He will call all the weak and weary to come to Him. They will be surrounded by His great strength and love. This brings a hymn to my mind. [ Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine. O what a foretaste of glory divine/ Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. ] CHORUS [ This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long.] When I am weak then He is strong. [Paul`s epistle]. Jesus loves me [ us ] this I know for the Bible tells me so little ones to Him belong they are weak but He is strong. Yes Jesus loves me yes Jesus loves me , yes Jesus loves me the Bible tells me so. guess what Jesus loves you and me.

  4. Micah 4 is a reminder the life with Christ is a life of peace and joy and yet we still rebel. It is a wonder with the promises of God and all He has accomplished for Israel and in our own lives how we can still get so easily distracted from our Creator. So quick to put temporal things in front of the one who made it all.
    I pray God help me to resist the distractions and let my life be just worship before You!

  5. I understand what you mean Gordon that at times it is hard to tell whether a prophetic vision is describing something close or far off for the people of Israel. At times we can evaluate things through the lens of has this happened as we look back on Israel’s history and if it hasn’t, then we can know it is still future to us. Now I do believe the beginning of this chapter is describing the millennial reign of Christ. And what a great description it is. Jesus is shown ruling on the earth and settling disputes amongst the nations and stopping wars. Things that are consistent with His earthly reign as opposed to heaven. It is even interesting to read how the world will be transformed by virtue of His reign in both peace, wisdom and prosperity.

    Now something that happens in verse 9, which is another facet of the way prophecy works, is the time frame being spoken of changes. Micah moves from speaking of the far future to the present circumstances of Judah. He is warning that they will have to leave the city and be exiled to Babylon. And although God would want them to be aware that He would restore them to the land both in the near future and the far future, even as they are being exiled, they will be exiled because of their disobedience and forsaking the worship of the true God that had done so much for them.

  6. Let us go to church to learn the ways of the Lord so that we may follow him all the days of our lives. For many people walk in their own way, but we will walk in the name of Lord forever. The people who are against God do not understand him and his perfect plan – that he will destroy those who are against his people and reduce their nations to rubble.
