  1. Praying with true faith behind our prayers, without selfish motivation, or other issues happening in our hearts that can minimize our faith and trust in God. Harboring resentment or anger or even anxiety takes away from being truly open to what God has for us. So often we think we are praying from a selfless, faith-filled posture but we must search our heart and be sure. We also put God in a box based on what we think He can do or based on past situations of unanswered prayer. God’s thoughts are higher, God’s plans are greater and often an unanswered prayer is the best plan for us even if we don’t see it. But that doesn’t limit God, that just reminds us how little we really understand and how much He still has to teach us, even those of us who have been saved for many, many years.

  2. Jesus shows His passion for the temple and the access that everyone would have to God through it. These money changers had set up shop in the court of the Gentiles, thinking little of how their access to God would be affected. And that is why Jesus emphasizes the temple being a place of prayer for all nations. And just think of Jesus’ impact on varied people’s when children praise His name. And the Jewish leaders just don’t know what to do with Him to address Him, so they simply want to get rid of Him. And although Jesus was frustrated by the fig tree appearing to have fruit, but then not having it, we see here that He intended to teach a lesson on prayer. That we have the same power to affect things if we believe that God can do something. In the same way that faith was essential for Jesus to heal people in His earthly ministry, it is essential for how we engage with Him in prayer. Knowing that He knows best when and how to answer. And don’t you just love it when Jesus stumps the Jewish leaders and asks them a question they cannot answer. It just shows how wise Jesus was and He knew just how this week would go in His interaction with them.

  3. Clearing out the temple area. Really got merchants and the “leaders amount the people” upset. To add to their jealousy. Jesus’ preaching against injustice. His teaching often favoring the poor. Not these merchants. And now in danger of Romes attention. More reasons to have to get rid of Jesus. Another trap. They think is bulletproof . How many times Jesus answers them with a question for them

  4. Jesus overturns the tables, justice for those financially and spiritually manipulated by the bankers. He heals the blind! Children singing praise! And the priests and scribes are angry?

  5. Day 5 – Cleansing of the temple, Jesus made it clear that the temple is a place of prayer for all nations, it was a place to show Holiness to God.
Jesus goes on to talk about faith and how we can move mountains with our faith when there is no doubt in our hearts. He reminds us when we pray make sure our hearts are in the right place not to have anger, and if we do, we need to have forgiveness for whoever we are carrying that anger for.
