  1. Reading this today struck me so personally that as Jesus sat and explained the scriptures to His disciples so they would understand and see the greater picture, greater purpose they now had, that we are all part of that same lineage. From that commission He gave them around that table as they ate and talked together, we now read these accounts and encourage one another to understand these same truths and join those same efforts to go out and share it with the world! He spoke to them just as He is speaking to us now and that is pretty exciting to think we are one of the people sitting around that table with Jesus and He is telling us to continue His work too!

  2. It seems clear that Jesus asks Peter 3 times if he loves Him to connect with the 3 times he denied Him, but Peter becomes frustrated by it. How important it is for us to trust Jesus for what and why He is doing things and not compare ourselves with what God is doing with other people. Our focus should be to follow Him. And just think of all the things that Christians have done because of this mission statement from Jesus. How the good news of Jesus has spread because believers have taken the message to the streets. May we be faithful to make disciples and carry on in our part of the mission. Because we know we serve a risen Christ and we know that He is coming again!

  3. Peters life is totally changed, finally realizing who Jesus was. No more fishing but now, one of the best evangelist in history. He asks about John. Many times we compare ourselves to other Christians. Certainly I have been guilty of that in the past. As I get older, not so much. More focused on my walk. That’s enough energy! All power and authority in heaven and earth to Jesus: Our Lord, Savior, King and best friend. No fear in life. All that was written about me must happen. Law of Moses. Books of prophets. And the psalms. And all of scripture pointing to the death and resurrection of Jesus. And the future. Jesus will return the same way he left coming in the clouds. Love when John says, And this apostle who witness all these things claims that all this has happened and is true!!

  4. I was thinking about Peter’s 3 denials and Jesus repeat question “do you love me?” With the Lilies” book the focus is on the attributes of God and what do we have in our minds, what are we thinking about? Meditating on God, memorizing His Words, worship, repeat, repeat, repeat. I suppose a good question to ask oneself when facing temptation, lies, rogue thoughts, could be “Amy, [insert your name] Do you love me?”

  5. Jesus asks Peter if he loves him three times, and when Peter says yes, he responds with what he wants Peter to do for his children (sheep). He restores Peter’s guilt-ridden conscience, and he gives him a purpose. And he indicates that he will die glorifying God. He is not to be concerned about what happens to John. Only to pay attention to what Jesus has commissioned him to do.
