1 Then Job replied:
2“If only my anguish could be weighed
and all my misery be placed on the scales!
3 It would surely outweigh the sand of the seas—
no wonder my words have been impetuous.……Continue Reading

  1. It is understandable that Job wonders what God is up to and even think that God is somehow against him. Our confidence though is that God will never leave us or forsake us. It is understandable that Job would not want to eat and see so many things of this earth as useless in the presence of the great loss he has suffered. And yet it is important for us not to become overcome by despair and continue to perform different functions to sustain our lives. It is understandable that Job questions what his friends have said when he has never asked them for anything and then they come and give him advice that blames him for what has happened. At times we need to defend ourselves against what people say to us if what they say is not true, and yet also recognize their attempts to help and the care they show in the midst of it.

  2. The state of Job seems more than reasonable at this point. To wonder why something is happening is normal. We question God’s plan because we can never really understand it as His thoughts are far higher than ours. But He is still not blaming God or even angry at God and it is important for us to find God in the troubles, it is the time to dig in and draw close and receive the peace only He offers. His reaction to his friends also seems normal. I am sure he realizes they are just trying to help but it still stings to be called out especially when it is untrue.

  3. Job snaps back at his friends, they have no knowledge or evidence of his sin, but they speak as if they know his heart before God. I think that is their sin.

“Now therefore, be pleased to look at me; For I would never lie to your face. Yield now, let there be no injustice! Yes, concede, my righteousness still stands! Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my taste discern the unsavory?”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭6‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NKJV‬
