my ears have heard and understood it.
2 What you know, I also know;
I am not inferior to you.

  1. “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him;” Job has such faith and it is not wavering. He is not blaming God or turning away from God but rather drawing close and really seeking to find the answer. Still asking God to reveal what he might have done. He is definitely confused, sad, and overwhelmed but he remains faithful!

  2. Job puts his “friends” in their place here both asking them to be quiet, asking if they truly know what God thinks and whether they would be able to bear the same scrutiny that they are giving him. He recognizes that God is the only One who can address the situation he is in and He is the only One he wants to hear from. And what an incredible statement that though He slay him, he will still hope in Him. Truth and not circumstance defines who God is and we can trust Him for and in everything that happens. But Job is also clearly wondering what is happening and what God is doing. He does feel like God is His enemy and is working against him. But mostly wants to stand before Him and plead his case. We can all understand that and may at times feel the same way.

  3. “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance.” Despite Job’s suffering he still has hope. Hope is a precious gift that God gives to his children. It gives us a shimmer of light in the most difficult situations. “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” Psalm 62:5

  4. Wham!!! Job slams his so called friends. Like surgeons operating on the wrong area. Job has examined himself and stands firm in his faith. Job is giving Satan a black eye.

  5. “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him. He also shall be my salvation, For a hypocrite could not come before Him.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭13;15-16
