  1. What a great picture of so many amazing faithful people throughout the Bible. Not all received end results that they expected or hoped for but all remained faithful
Faith is believing what we can’t see but many times it is more about believing what we can’t understand. God’s thoughts are so much higher than ours and we can’t even begin to grasp the vastness of His wisdom and power. God is faithful and He keeps His promises these men of the Bible knew that and we must live the way they did trusting God even when we don’t understand the grand plan!

  2. Hebrews 11 – I love all the examples of what happened “By Faith” in the Old Testament, what an example of great faith they had in God and it should be an encouragement to us, we are never alone when we put our faith in him.

  3. “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Such great examples of faith and scripture reinforcing scripture. The importance of seeing what we don’t believe, engaging with the spiritual world of God and his works that come with reward is really displayed here.

  4. I love this chapter! Anyone who feels their faith waning should read it as often as necessary. God is so good to those who believe in Him and seek Him, although they do not see. The following sentence is a good one to contemplate and even meditate on:
“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  5. I love that Hebrews offers so much support; maintaining faith isn’t easy! So it offers many examples (which former Jews would easily recognize) to help you see that it can be done.

  6. As many have said above, so many lives changed, so many victories won, so many acts of obedience accomplished, so many examples of paths and circumstances transformed because of the faithfulness of people to believe and follow God’s direction for their lives. Faith is doing things because God said it not because we can see it or even agree with it. It is what the Christian life requires and is the only thing that pleases God. Because it is the thing that honors our free will and connects us to the reality and provision of God without us doing anything that we can take credit for.

  7. In an effort to get off of my computer, I am going to go read the last chapters of Hebrews from my actual paper Bible before going to bed. I may come back and post about it or not.

  8. I was reviewing Hebrews 11 this morning and I was thinking about all those people who walked in faith, looking forward to the promise and none of them lived to see it. We walk by faith looking backward at what was promised, Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection. I guess we are kind of caught in the middle now! We still look for Christ’s return. It seems that God always has something for us to look forward to, but also His faithfulness to look back at.

  9. When we walk by faith, we know that something greater is operating behind the scenes. God’s perfect plan is unfolding, and he wants us to be a part of it. If we are willing, he will use us to accomplish the things he has promised and reward us for our faithfulness. We need not understand so much as we need to be obedient, trusting in his word and being willing to answer the call he gives us.

  10. 1Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for.
3By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

  11. 13All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
