Hosea 7

Israel persists in evil and wrongdoing and are becoming increasingly flagrant about it. It is praised by those with power and influence while others suffer from the thievery, murder and adultery. They act like God doesn’t see ( or even care) but He does. He would much rather redeem them, but they force His hand of discipline upon them. Rather than turning to God when they are in trouble, they turn to the powerful nations around them, who unbeknownst to them, will use them and bring destruction. It is a sad state to read about and yet how descriptive of our country that used to be far more faithful to God and His ways, and yet we increasingly stray away and become increasingly brash about it. We are not God’s people as Americans, but those of God’s people in the church must maintain our salt and light and continue to be a godly witness to the increasing darkness in our world.
