1 Then the man brought me to the main hall and measured the jambs; the width of the jambs was six cubits8 on each side. 2 The entrance was ten cubits wide, and the projecting walls on each side of it were five cubits wide. He also measured the main hall; it was forty cubits long and twenty cubits wide.

  1. We continue the description of the temple in all of it’s splendor and attention to detail. I imagine this must have been quite an experience for Ezekiel to have with God.

  2. God is giving a complete blueprint of the temple He wants built. He uses dreams to message His wishes. It’s amazing!

  3. There are three prominent opinions as to just what temple is being revealed to Ezekiel. Is it one to be built when the Jews return to the land and rebuild Jerusalem, that was destroyed by the Babylonians? Is it the temple that will be active during the millennial reign of Christ? Or is it a figurative temple reflecting the nature of the worship the Jews should give God, or the worship He receives in heaven, or just figuratively speaking of God being with the people again as they return to the land. We do know that this temple was never built and it is larger than the original built by Solomon or the one constructed by Herod around the time of Christ. I lean toward it being one the Jews were supposed to build when returning to the land. How exciting it would/should be for the Jews to return to the land and recapture all the ritual and function of what the temple brought. Let alone it being the place where God’s earthly presence resided. It also explains well why priests and sacrifices would still be in place. It would be strange for those to be present during Jesus’ presence on earth in the millennium. And to me, it is described in too much literal detail to be symbolic, especially detail given to a prophet who has been exposed to some grandiose visions.

But regardless it is consistent with God giving these exiled Jews a picture of what the worship of God could be again for them…..

  4. The man points out where The Most Holy Place is located. This was the most important feature of the temple. There are carvings all over with palm trees and cheribum with a human face and a lions face. This was reminiscent of the decoration in Solomon’s temple.
