Ezekiel 40 (NIV)

The Temple Area Restored
1 In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the fall of the city—on that very day the hand of the Lord was on me and he took me there. 2 In visions of God he took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose south side were some buildings that looked like a city. 3 He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze;........Continue Reading

  1. Everything was so precise in the building of this new temple. He wanted Ezekiel to be aware of every detail so he could tell the Israelites what he saw.

  2. The vison that is given to Ezekiel has so much detail that I believe it is a physical temple that will exist. I think it would be during the 1000 reign of Christ. It is hard to read because of the measurements. But I did look up Biblical measurements. A Cubit is measure from the elbow to the finger tip. Which would be anywhere from 17. 4 to 22. 67. A reed [ rod ] = 6 cubits. Breath of a hand is 3 inches. I hope this helps someone. I looked up U tube to get a visible picture of what the temple would look like. However I do have questions at why there are still a sin offering , a guilt offering, and a burnt offering. After what Christ has done on the cross. I have been reading chapters 40 -44 There is no mention of the Lampstand, Showbread, Veil, a place for incense for the prayers, And Ark of the covenant. I think that Christ is the light [Lampstand], Christ is the bread of life [ Showbread], We can come to Christ [no VEIL], We can talk to Jesus in person. [ no Incense for prayers]. I am sure that others might have questions so can you answer these things about the sacrifices and why some of these are not mentioned Pastor Peter. God bless you Pastor as you lead us through Christ Jesus our Lord.

    1. I have read commentary on Ezekiels temple being what should or could have been when the 2nd temple was built. Israel’s zeal to return and rebuild was tepid at best, only a remnant returned and temple that was built was not spectacular like Solomons or Ezekiels. . The temple of Eziekiel is pointing to the future fulfillment in Christ.

  3. At first read, I believe God is giving Ezekiel a vision of what the temple should be when the Jews return to Jerusalem and begin worshipping Him in the way that He had prescribed. God has always been specific about the details of the places His people worshipped Him. God did this to reenforce how special and sanctified the building was that pointed to how sanctified He is. And the building was glorious and beautiful…and it smelled good…and it was very bloody. All things to reenforce the glory of God, the sinfulness of man and the atonement that the temple afforded that allowed sinful man to come before a pure and holy God.

  4. I am always struck by chapters like this to see the detail and care God puts into everything He creates. Our bodies, nature, and all of His creations are such miraculous in every detail leaving no room for people to say it was done by random or accident but rather a great Creator who loved and cared for every aspect of His creation.

  5. Ezekiel has a vision of a bronze man making measurements of a temple. We discussed this at length, the measurements are very different from the other temples mentioned in scripture.

  6. Ezekiel is given exact measurements of the temple that is to be built in Jerusalem. God is precise in his description of how he wants them to construct it.
