Reading along with us in 2 Chronicles? Here’s today’s reading:

2 Chronicles 22 (NIV)

Ahaziah King of Judah
1 The people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram’s youngest son, king in his place, since the raiders, who came with the Arabs into the camp, had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri.

  1. You would think when God brings judgement on your father’s house and all your brothers our killed by the enemy because God’s hand was against your father, that you would see the pattern and follow God. Unless of course you listen to your mother who was connected to the wicked kings in Israel. Omri lead the Northern kingdom into all kinds of false worship. How foolish to follow other gods when Jehovah has proven to be so good and powerful. But God is faithful to His Deuteronomic promise to curse disobedience, and He brings judgement on Ahaziah. It is good he reigns so briefly, but his wicked mother then takes over. Thank God there have been the brave souls throughout history that have protected the vulnerable from the terror of evil. Joash who is hid in the temple 6 years will be a good one. Good thing Ahaziah’s sister aligned herself with a righteous priest! As much as bad company corrupts good morals, good company reenforces them.

  2. Sad to see a mother counsel her son in the ways of wickedness! Especially after all they had seen when you are obedient and when you are not. Important for us to be examples to our children in the ways of what is right!

  3. Trying to read here daily but I am also reading, studying and listening to sermons to prep our 1 Samuel study. I like to be several chapters ahead in my prep!

I am also, trying to “publish”, meaning get written into documents on my computer and on Google docs, ALL of the Bible studies I have written over the years of leading Bible Studies for WOH. I am starting on the book of John, the first study I did for WOH. I am stating this here in hopes that people will occasionally ask me how it’s going. I only have a few people that are aware that I am doing it. I hope to one day put them all up on a website, kind of like enduring word.com

    1. Praying for you Amy and your efforts as you seek to teach and bless others through your diligent studies and leading others to understand and apply God’s Word to their lives.
      Thank you

  4. When reading Chapter 22, all I could think of was Hilary Clinton. I think she has had a lot of people killed to retain power. So much so that she has come to be known as “Killary” and a slang term “Arkancide” is a specific hashtag . We shall see. God will bring justice.
