1 A prophecy:
The word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrak
and will come to rest on Damascus—
for the eyes of all people and all the tribes of Israel
are on the Lord
2and on Hamath too, which borders on it,
and on Tyre and Sidon, though they are very skillful.…..Continue Reading

  1. Here is a reference from [ The Bible Knowledge Commentary. ] The final division of the book consists of two oracles that look forward to the Messianic King and kingdom. Chapters 9-11 refer for the most part to the First Advent of Christ, stressing the theme of His rejection but also outlining Israel`s prophetic history to the end times. Chapters 12-14 focus on Messiah`s Second Advent and emphasize His enthronement as the commencement of the grand finale of Israel`s history. I thought this might help each one of us as we study together. Also in this same reference it is stated that Alexander the Great with his great armies is believed to have fulfilled prophecies of this destruction. It was the path of destruction that he latter did in history with the places mentioned. The order of the cities seems to correspond generally with his line of march. Also I hope this helps. What is very clear to me is the fulfillment of prophecy that Jesus will ride a donkey. Zechariah 9;9 [ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem ; behold, thy King cometh unto thee; He is just, and having salvation ; lowly, and riding upon an ass , and upon a colt the foal of an ass. ] Then after this are references to His second coming when He comes back as King and Ruler. Verse 10 [ —and His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.] The triumphal entry. Matthew 21;1-11; Mark 11;1-11; Luke 19;28-44; John12;12-19. God bless us as we know how God has fulfilled scripture already ; He will also bring about things to come as He foretold through the prophets. We can be confident in that for God always tells the truth.

  2. Good job there, Dennis, keep it coming! Zech 10: Friends, not fully understanding the “when”, perhaps the present time of the prophet. I know the Lord will lead Israel to prosperity and has done so. Not sure how God works with Jews today, would conclude God wants them to see the Messiah hidden under all the traditions and feasts. So much clutter. Would be good for all mankind to know and walk with God. Men will wail when Jesus returns to earth, as a conquerer. -gy

  3. God will deal with Israel’s enemies, but for those still alive after the desolation God will bring, they will be leaders in Judah. This shows that God is not opposed to the Gentiles but just to their behavior and their mistreatment of Israel.

And what a way to follow up on that reality by letting Israel know how their king would be presented to them. Now Jesus knew this prophesy and its Messianic nature. So although Jesus orchestrated some of the events of the triumphal entry, it is important that He did to show that He understood that He was the Messiah. It would be very strange in fact for others to say that Jesus was the Messiah and Jesus not agreeing. So we would expect in Jesus’ life things that showed He was Messiah, both things that He orchestrated and things that He didn’t. Both are important to validate who He was. And yet other aspects of Messiah’s coming are mentioned here as well. He will rule and bring peace and prosperity to Israel. All of these were done spiritually in Jesus first coming, and will be accomplished literally in His second. What a glorious day that will be!

  4. Steve and I went to read our Bibles together this morning and our Bibles were missing!
Steve said, the kids probably took them downstairs last night.
We have all of these adult children in our house. Can’t complain when they take our Bibles for their late-night discussions.

3 John 1:4 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
    Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
    Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.

  5. Jesus comes to us as a lowly, righteous, victorious king who is able to instill peace to all nations and rule over all the earth.
