Zechariah 10 (NIV)

The Lord Will Care for Judah
1 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people,
and plants of the field to everyone.
2 The idols speak deceitfully,
diviners see visions that lie;
they tell dreams that are false,…..Continue Reading

  1. In chapter 10 God is reminding the people that He has blessed them with rain and plants of the field. He also realizes that they have been lead astray by false shepherds which are false prophets, and diviners. The people are lost. He will bring wrath on these false teachers. He also reassures the people that He will fight for them but He will also empower them to conquer like mighty men. Here is a statement by a reference book of mine. [ The remedy for the nation`s deception focuses on the coming of the Messiah who is described in a fourfold way as The Cornerstone Isa 28;16, The Tent Peg,—The Battle Bow Psalm 45;5, and The Ruler Gen 49;10; Micah 5;2. These terms emphasize the strong, stable, victorious, and trustworthy nature of Messiah`s rule.] [ The Bible Knowledge Commentary] Coming up to the Millennium God will be regathering the Jewish people from around the world to Jerusalem. Then they will be walking with Him. The reference to Egypt and Assyria are representative of all the countries of Israel`s dispersion. This also according the reference book mentioned earlier. God bless us as we travel on this journey seeking to learn and grow in our faith together.

  2. Zech 10: This prophet is all over the place, I find it hard to follow. But that’s me!
    I sense that the Lord God wants us to ask Him for rain, and He’ll give it. Those who oppose him by worshipping idols do not receive favor. Despite evil spiritual leaders, God visited the flock and strengthened them. Verses 2 & 3.

    In the end, the scattered shall be gathered. The weak become mighty men of war. It us refreshing in the last half of chapter 10, to see that God lifts up and protects in awesome ways!

    BTW: bought a 1560 Geneva Bible today. Inspired to read the predecessor to my favored King James, and seeing with my own eyes, the integrity and consistency of the old manuscripts they had at that time. Inspiring. -gy

  3. God is always willing to meet His people where they are at when they call to Him. He can answer and is true but idols cannot and they hold a deceptive message. God comes against leaders that lead His people astray, but in spite of their poor leadership, God will supply for Judah and strengthen them because of who He is. He had been against them because of their disobedience and scattered them from Palestine. But He will restore them, strengthen them and gather them back. He will return them to their former glory in the number of people that occupy the land as well as the bounty that the land will produce and the protection He will give them. How gracious He is to always give us a way to return to Him and once we do, He stands ready to restore our former state….

  4. From Judah will come the cornerstone, their Messiah, Jesus Christ. God will strengthen them in the Lord and in his name they will live securely. It will be as though he had not left them, and he will answer their prayers because he is a God of mercy and compassion.
    When we turn back to the Lord, he strenghtens us, secures us, and answers our prayers. It is as if he never left us when we turned against him and went our own way. So we need not continue to rehearse the guilt and shame of our past failings. God is with us today and will be with us in our tomorrow. Thank you Lord.
