  1. It seems like the first 4 verses in this chapter are better connected to chapter 10. It is a reminder that the chapter and verse designations are not inspired but were developed as means to ease locating and even memorizing scripture. But God declares judgement on Lebanon much like he did with the other nations that surrounded Israel. Next, to highlight the poor shepherding done presumably by Israel’s leaders as oppose to actual shepherds, Zechariah is told to take care of sheep that had been mistreated by those who were supposed to take care of them. Leadership is important to God from whom all authority flows. And He calls on leaders to be dependent on Him and to be more concerned about the people they lead than they are about themselves. The leaders in Israel missed that and God lays out His response if they continue mistreating the people they were supposed to take care of.

  2. I feel blessed to have such good leadership at LHCC. I pray that during this election year that the leaders elected will be guided by Biblical wisdom!

  3. 1Open your doors, O Lebanon,
that the fire may devour your cedars!
2Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen,
for the glorious trees are ruined!
    Wail, oaks of Bashan,
for the thick forest has been felled!
3The sound of the wail of the shepherds,
    for their glory is ruined!
The sound of the roar of the lions,
for the thicket of the Jordan is ruined
