We can only be justified by our faith in the One who took our place on the cross. And we have that peace and assurance coming before God. By His grace, we are saved. Romans 5:1,2a { Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace —.} Thank God after the first man {Adam } sinned and therefore we also became sinners; by another man { Jesus Christ} many were made righteous. Romans 5:12 { Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and so death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.} Romans 5: 15b { For if through the offence of one many be dead, much the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.} Thank God that while we were still sinners Christ died for us showing how much He loves us. Romans 5:8 { But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.} He had to be the perfect man and He was. The Son of God.
Are there any better words in life. We have peace with God we have been reconciled back to God through our lord. Jesus Christ.!!!!!!! If that doesn’t make your spirit jump. Check your pulse
“Just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.” Makes sense to me; thank you Jesus!
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:5 NKJV
This made me think of other “hope” verses, and what does hope really mean. I thought of Romans 8:23-25
”Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.“
Romans 8:23-25 NKJV
We “hope” for eternal life, the redemption of our bodies and eternity with Christ. This is not a “I hope this happens”, but a “I know this will happen”. We wait expectantly.

“The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 5
Such a powerful passage of scripture! Justified through faith that leads to peace with God which ushers us into the grace of God that sustains our lives in good times and bad. So not only is there purpose in suffering but also the provision to withstand it and come out stronger on the other side. And the only thing that could explain so great a sacrifice for those so undeserving is God’s love for us. And there really is no greater expression of love than that! And yet Jesus sacrifice was also part of a master plan, because how appropriate is it for one man to die for everyone and provide righteousness to those who believe, unless of course we were also condemned by one man. Both are not really fair, but it makes the plan of God to justify humankind through Jesus a just thing. And all glory to God for orchestrating such a thing that provides grace to overcome sin, both in the power of forgiveness and the power of victory over it….but that we will see in Romans 6…
As one man condemned us one man justified us as well. The grace we received from God is an amazing thing, giving us not what we deserve but rather giving us forgiveness, love, and mercy. Sometimes it is hard to wrap my head around when I think about my reaction (or more fittingly put, overreaction) to people hurting or even offending me and yet who am I to judge after all He has done and continues to do for the like of me!
5:19&20
Pastor, is it correct to say that Adam’s sin was somehow, not as serious until the law entered later? Adam’s sin leads to death, but verse 20 adds the Law, and sin “abounds” even more. Could it also be, that where God defines sin -by law- the law adds more conditions where one can sin. Example, there would be no law against eating pork before the law, not a sin. But the Law added it as prohibited food, hence, another way to sin.
Trying to grasp Acts 17:30, where God “winked at” disobedience. Was it because Gentiles were without law, and not held to its account as were the Jews?
I think Adam’s sin was great at the time he committed it because he had the only law put before man at that time, don’t eat of the tree. But you are right that once sin came into the world, the law invigorated sin and widened what wold be defined as sin. And I think Acts 17:30 is speaking more generally about the Gentile’s rejection of the Hebrew God of creation and following gods made with hands and how God overlooked their relative ignorance, holding them accountable to what they knew as opposed to what they didn’t know. But now that God had revealed Himself through Jesus, He was calling Gentiles to repent, not so much with regards to their breaking the law, but changing their minds about who God is and more specifically who the true God is.
