  1. Romans 1
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.””
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  2. The description of the world Paul gives in the end of this chapter is one we can certainly see today. The state of people choosing immoral ways and using free will to move further and further away from God. As we look on what has become socially acceptable sins in our world and as we silence ourselves in the name of political correctness we must remember Paul’s words…”For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
We can not just be overwhelmed by the evil of this world and we must love others without losing sight of God’s truth. We must stand as firm in what we believe and not be comprimised in the face of the world and their sinful ways.

  3. 17For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

So i believe this is saying it is our faith that gives us righteousness. As for Abraham’s faith, God called him righteous. Praise Jesus for giving us the opportunity to claim his righteousness by faith, and avoid the life that leads to death of those that won’t believe, which Paul describes in the rest of this chapter.

  4. Back in the saddle!
Romans contains our fundamentals of salvation. Every verse is packed with application.

Verses 20 to 32 defines our need for a Saviour, not telling you anything you don’t already know, but that passage is where we all once were, outside of Christ. Terrible place to be. Worthy of death, and loving it! Peace, -reb

  5. Is there a better written book in all of scripture. Romans!! Agree with Kelly. 2nd half of ch. 1. God has given them over to a depraved mind. ( not knowing right from wrong). Reaping what we have sown. As we have lost our first love. Chaos. Man wants to be sovereign. Good luck. Nice job so far!!! Let’s share the good news and establish one last revival

  6. The righteous will like by faith, period. And the wicked have no excuse for their ignorance towards God. Because God has made it clear to them by the display of his amazing power through his intelligent design of creation, so people have no excuse about their knowledge of God’s existence. It is displayed everywhere in the universe for all to see every day of their lives!

  7. The good news of Jesus coming was prophesied long before He arrived and He was shown to be the Son of God, confirming the message of the prophets, by His resurrection. Both confirm to us the validity of our faith. And that faith is to lead us to obedience because that is what we have been made for anyways so we will always find benefits in it. Paul longs to vist Rome to encourage the believers and preach the gospel to the unsaved, whatever condition the unbeliever find themselves in. They are 2 wise things for us to pursue as well. Because how lost the world is and how powerful the gospel is to save. It struck me how Paul says that even as they reject God, they know Him in the recesses of their conscience and His manifestation in creation. And yet they turn that knowledge aside and follow their own way. It might seem a good idea at first…look we don’t have to do what God says…but when you welcome sin and satan without the power of God, you don’t know what you have subjected yourself to. And that leads to deeper and deeper depravity…homosexuality is pictured as that which should be obvious to avoid..of course things don’t work that way…so to reject that natural order only shows how deceived they are. Even the women….like they should have known better. But it’s like Paul is writing a headline for today’s newspaper, right? Naturally a conservative one…lol…But He was speaking to his day..and I guess it is a toss up as to how much it is worse today. But we see these verses played out in our world. Showing us God’s word is true and how much the good news of Jesus is needed in our world today. Who will tell them if not us????

  8. 16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

  9. I’ve read this a thousand times, probably, yet I still see “new” truths each time I read. A few:
    – Paul emphasizes that the gospel of God is promised way back, in the scriptures and by the prophets.
    – Jesus’ authenticity as the Son of God is verified by His resurrection from the dead.
    – through Jesus everyone is called…Paul to apostleship and obedience….the nations….and you (us) also.
”For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
    – The gospel is to all who believe. The gospel is the call. The faith of the OT is the same as the New. (As will be explained later in Romans.)
    – God and the knowledge of Him is not new. Man always knew God or at least of God from creation on. We get a glimpse of the history of the degradation of man over time.
”And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
”who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
-They knew/know, but they do it anyway and encourage others in it.

  10. Paul wrote Romans while in Corinth in A.D. 57. This was a Gentile city and Rome was the capital. In Rome there also lived a minority of Jews. Paul being the Apostle to the Gentiles also did minister to the Jews. But his main focus was to Christian Gentiles. I won`t go into great detail about Paul for Pastor gave us a lot of information about Paul last Sunday service. Thanks for the message Pastor. I have also enjoyed all the comments from each of you. There is a lot in this chapter but I am just going to touch on a small amount. God has revealed Himself in all His creation. By everything we see around us. The way the planets, sun, moon, earth, and stars orbit. The animal life, birds, and mankind. Just to name a few. It didn`t just happen over millions of years but in 6 days as God has said in His word. But mankind has corrupted the creation because of his sins. Evolution teaches that we are evolving. That we are out of no where gaining knew information to be turned into something higher and better. But science actually shows that we are losing information in our DNA. So science actually proves the Bible. Mankind has sinned and falls short of the glory of God. Each generation is by the DNA losing information and by using the DNA the generations can be traced back to Noah and his three sons. It even has been found that they can trace where all the people went after God confused the languages. It is in great detail in a book I have put out by Answers in Genesis. It is called Traced. If anyone wants to borrow it please let me know. You can also watch the series on U Tube. You would be surprised what you find for even the native Americans weren`t the first here in this land of ours. They either conquered those that were already here or they swallowed them up and it became part of their culture. There is still information being gathered here among the native American Indians. More DNA is needed by the native people. The author of the book is Nathaniel T. Jeanson. But getting back to this chapter; it reminded me of what we are reading in Exodus about the gods of Egypt. They took false gods to themselves to worship instead of worshipping the True and Living God. Mankind also has a conscience but by continually sinning and turning away from God they have made their conscience numb. Mankind wants to be his own god. That is what Humanism is. A religion of man without God which is taught in public schools. Things only get worse when GOD is left out. We see that in action today in the world. The heart is deceitful and will corrupt people. People can`t really change without Christ. He gives us a new heart and mind. God bless.
