Reading along with us in Revelation? Here’s today’s reading:
Revelation 22 (NIV)
Eden Restored
1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him..........Continue Reading
We start Genesis with the Tree of Life and our first sin and we finish Revelation with the Tree of Life and relationship restored and a new chance to see His face. The glory and the worship of God with no more distraction of fear, worry, and the idols we put in the way.
Jesus will return and welcomes all to “Come” believe, be forgiven, and come to worship Him for all eternity!
And he saith unto me, Sealeth not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 22:10
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely, I come quickly Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus. 22:20.
John was sure, Jesus would come back quickly, at any time, so we ought to consider our time SHORT. Matthew 24:3-5, Jesus said not to be deceived. A big take away I get, is that there should be no confusion when Jesus comes again. He comes in the clouds, everyone will see him. The nations will be wailing! Rev. 1:7
Revelation is the REVEALING OF CHRIST. The world will will see Him as He is, not what they think He was, or is now. May I live in the light of His Second Coming! Peace, gordy
The water of life reminds of the water Jesus offered to the Samaritan woman. Tree of life. Because of sin. Adam and Eve coild not eat. Now no more sin eat as much as we want. No more night Sounds good. No more tripping over buddy going to the bathroom at 3 am. Vs 10. Do not seal up this book so all can read vs 12. Just as revelation started. Behold I am coming soon I am the alpha and omega. No argument who this is. As Jesus promised the second coming over and over. Proves his deity.! Vs 17. The spirit and the bride say come and take the free gift of water if life. As a church and ambassadors that’s what we are offering. Last warning Handle the Bible with total respect and great care Great advice. Revelation is a great book of hope. No matter what happens on earth God is in control. Evil
Will be crushed. And a great reward for those who believe. Eternal life!!!!!
There is a river of life flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. The tree of life is there bearing 12 crops of fruit. The Lord God will give the only light in the city. In verse 17 there is a call to all who thirst to come and take the free gift of the water of life. This reminds me of Jesus when He spoke to the Samarian woman. John 4; 14 [ But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.]
Revelation 22 here we have the tree of life as we had in Genesis and this time the leaves on the tree are for healing for the nations, no longer will there be any curse. The Angel showed John the River of life flowing from the throne of God. The Angel tells John how there will be no more night and the only light there will be will be from the Lord God. The Angel explains why he was sent to tell him what soon will be taking place, that the lord is coming soon, and he will give according to what we have done. I like the warning at the end about everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in the book and if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the Holy city that are described in this book. I’d say that is a stern warning, and yet we see religious leaders and churches changing the word to suit their needs or the needs of their congregations. They will suffer the consequences for that because God makes it so clear why not to do that. I think I need to read revelations a few more times because each time there’s more that I learn from it chapter 22 was the only one I didn’t need the commentary for it’s quite clear that Jesus is coming.
What an awesome picture of what awaits us in heaven! It is no wonder that a river of life flows from God’s throne since He is the source of all life, the great I AM. We should actually be a little giddy about the prospect of being in God’s presence and experience all that has been depicted here and in the last chapter. And yes, this is certainly a recapitulation of the Garden of Eden, returning everything to what it was supposed to be in the beginning. All praise and thanks to our great and gracious God…and yes Jesus…come soon!
Revelation 22
What a beautiful picture of what heaven will be like when we enter it. The tree of life will yield fruit continuously, its leaves will heal the nations and no longer will there be a curse upon us. We will be God’s people, and God’s glory will shine all around us.
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End, the root of the offspring of David and the bright Morning Star. These are great names to use when we are praising God. And those he has made righteous will have access to the tree of life, they will be able to enter the gates of heaven and they will live forever with him in Paradise. This is the marvelous inheritance God gives his people because of his grace.
1 Corinthians 2:9 …as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him.
Amen. Come Lord Jesus!
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”
What does this part mean, Pastor?
I think we can recognize from Scripture that God’s primary message to the righteous is to continue in righteousness and to the unrighteous to change their ways and believe and follow God. But we also need to recognize how patterns of behavior foster and encourage those same patterns of behavior. And this will occur especially in the end. As the divide between those who follow God and those who don’t follow God gets wider, it will be more natural to stay on the side that you are on. This is reiterated in Daniel 12:10 as well, another passage that points to end times. You wonder if there is a little reverse psychology going on here…..the evil person says, what do you mean I can’t be righteous…I’ll show you…..but I think the first reason is more likely…
Thanks, Pastor
