Reading along with us in selections from Psalms and Proverbs? Here’s today’s reading:
Psalm 8-9 (NIV)
For the director of music. According to gittith.
A psalm of David.
1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.……Continue Reading
1 I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
These Psalms are great reminders of ALL God has done. He is creator of heaven and earth and He has entrusted it all to us. He provides us all we need to live with Him in righteousness and He corrects us when we go astray.
Psalms 8&9
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.”
Psalms 9:1-2 NIV

Psalm 8 our God is great his creation is all around us. He reminds us of how much he cares for his people, he made us a little lower than the Heavenly beings, we need to be mindful of all he did for us.
Psalm 9 David expresses joy in praising God, he knows how powerful God is in suppressing his enemies. “ The success of evil is only temporary and in the end the righteous will overcome.”God is a sovereign judge and will bring our enemies to ruin. David is teaching us about hardship and how we can praise God through that.
Psalm 8:4ff
I read this Psalm differently today than before. I thought the term, son of man, was Messiah, about Jesus, and perhaps it is. But the modern English reading is not just (only) about Jesus, it is about me! I never saw this before!
I was made a little lower than angels, I was created for God’s glory and honor, set to have dominion over all creatures, and over all that earth has in it.
Mankind has been blessed beyond any fathomable understanding, beyond any measure of human blessing we can give to another. There is no better treasure in life. God is so excellent, such an excellent name above the earth! I am awestruck! -reb
Matthew 24-25; Psalms 6-9
The Lord cherishes each one of us. As David says what are we as mankind that God should even consider us? He has made us lower than the angels. Psalm 8:4,5. Yet God has created mankind to have fellowship with Him. He has made man in His image and to have dominion over the world. As believers we will latter rule over angels. What great love and compassion He has given to us and yet mankind would rather reject Him and go their own way which leads to death and destruction and ending in Hell. How foolish we are as humans when we think that we can do better for ourselves and not give everything to God. God knows best. We should be grateful for all that we have including our very own lives. As David says in Psalm 9:9,10 : [ The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for thou, Lord hast not forsaken them that seek thee.} How do we ever deserve any of His grace and mercy upon us? We don`t. Once we have become a child of His; all we should be doing is giving Him praise and being thankful for all He has done. We have so much to learn as His children. Thank God; He is so patient with us and each day is a new day. God bless you brothers and sisters.
Psalm 8 is a favorite. At one point in my life I had it memorized. No time like the present to refresh my memory.
Psalms 8-9
How wonderful is our God as evidenced by how He has orchestrated His creation. His power is expressed in the heavens being the work of His fingers and yet His compassion is expressed in His care for humankind. We are the pinnacle of His creation and He has put us above everything else on earth. Oh that we would recognize that and praise Him for it. And yet so many reject and turn to evil and at times turn against us. And yet God manages that as well. He makes war against the proud but gives grace to the humble. He will judge the world in righteousness and will govern the people with justice. He is a refuge for the oppressed and a stronghold in times of trouble. He is to be praised, honored and trusted for all that He has done and what He will do. He will turn evil on its back and remind the world that they are but men. The sooner we recognize that, the better off we will be and the better light we will be to draw people to Him.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”
When I look at the night sky, I see Gods handiwork and it is awesome. And we are Gods handiwork as well and that is amazing! He made everything and he loves us. Let us remember that when we take the time to reflect on all his creation.
