Psalms 74-75 (NIV)
A maskilof Asaph.
1 O God, why have you rejected us forever?
Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?
2 Remember the nation you purchased long ago,
the people of your inheritance, whom you redeemed……Continue Reading

It appears to me that Psalm 74 presents a question/issue and 75 provides the answer. It begins seeming as God is against them. He is not dealing with sinful nations in the way that they deserve, not bringing the judgment that is warranted. But in spite of that, verse 12 recognizes that God is still king. He has been and done too much for them to stop trusting in Him. (How true for us too). But now because of that, God answer, protect and defend against the enemies of Israel who are enemies of God as well. And then Psalm 75 recognizes that God is to be praised and trusted for whatever He chooses to do. He is a God of justice but he determines how that justice will unfold and when it will. And He has shown Himself willing and able to do that so we can trust Him for how He handles things. And that brings great benefits to us as well as great praise to God. Because it is one thing to praise God for good things, it is quite another to praise Him because He knows what is best…and so we praise Him in spite of the circumstances.
Psalms 74-75
Chapter 74 seems to be a familiar place we can get. We remember all the times God has helped us and we know he can do it again but it can be hard trusting and waiting on His timing. We are impatient people and we want discomfort to end (probably why we have a medication for literally everything that could possibly ail us) God knows when things need to be handled, He knows how long we need to stay uncomfortable, but most importantly He knows the why. We just need to trust.
Psalms 3, 74-75; Isaiah 51-53
Psalms 73-77
Psalms 74-75
God does not tolerate arrogance and boasting. When people boast, they should only boast in the Lord, for he is the one who gives good things. When God says do not speak defiantly, beware, for he will judge the wicked and he will cast them down. But his children can rejoice because he will carry them through in times of trouble and he will lift them up and bless them.
