Of Solomon.
1 Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
2 May he judge your people in righteousness,
your afflicted ones with justice.
3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy;
may he crush the oppressor.........Continue Reading

  1. What would our world look like if kings and presidents asked God to help them rule wisely. That’s exactly what we need today. Pray for our country and upcoming elections. Godly men and women rule again!

  2. Psalm 72 is a prayer of Solomon and does reflect Solomon’s heart to be a wise king and to keep God first in his life and in the lives of the people he rules over. While in Psalm 73 Asaph reflects on what can happen and the result of disobedience to God.

  3. In Psalm 72, God blesses nations who believe in him when the king judges righteously, defends the poor and weak, and brings prosperity to the people.
    Psalm 73: Its difficult to see the wicked prosper when the righteous are suffering. However, they have a God who holds, leads, guides and strengthens them throughout their lives. And when they pass away, they will be taken into his heavenly glory, and the wicked will be destroyed. We can take comfort in that when we see the injustice going on in the world.

  4. In many ways, a king or any ruler in God’s economy, is intended to be God’s representative on earth. They should be following His standards and treating people and making laws that reflect God’s standards and His heart. And the people should be blessed, guided and protected by them. Other nations should be benefited as well by the wise, true and generous leadership of a godly ruler. How little we see that today and chances are, it is going to get worse. God is the One with the ultimate glory, but His glory should shine through those who rule.

    In Psalm 73 Asaph deals with a very common condition of the followers of God: what are we to think about how unbelievers live their lives. It may seem like they have no problems. They have plenty of time on their hands to pursue evil and at times it seems like they are winning and being successful. Believers then might fall in the trap of trying to be like them, following their ways to receive their benefits. We also might get discouraged in doing the things God would encourage in our lives because their ways seem to work better. But we need to remember their end. Regardless what it looks like, their future is destruction. And the God of the universe is opposed to them. And the God of the universe is for us. WE ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE! And our greatest benefits are spiritual, not martial like theirs. Psalm 73:26 should be our hearts cry because nothing beats having God as a refuge and a support.

  5. Psalm 72 – what a righteous king does. Is this talking about Christ? or Soloman or David?
    Psalm 73 – The wicked seem to prosper, but we know Who wins in the end.

    “Whom have I in heaven but You?
    And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
    My flesh and my heart fail;
    But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
    I always think of these verses when health and life is in jeopardy. Our flesh will eventually fail, but God will receive us.
