Psalms 70-71 (NIV)

For the director of music. Of David. A petition.
1 Hasten, O God, to save me;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.
2 May those who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
3 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”........Continue Reading

  1. God is our rock….refuge, fortress, and firm foundation. I really clung to the words in chapter 71…
    5For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord,
    my confidence since my youth.
    6From birth I have relied on you;
    you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
    I will ever praise you.
    God for me has been a constant since youth. When there was so much and so many that hurt me or left me He was always there and He was my rock and I stand confident knowing that will never change!

  2. Psalm 70-71 David puts his hope and faith in the Lord. The Lord is his refuge and he will praise the Lord in front of men so they know where he stands.

  3. When humans turn from us. Even Christians. We are never alone. The God of the universe is our rock. Fortress. Our peace and joy

  4. Whether we know who our enemies are or not, what a comfort to have God as a refuge and a help. David consistently shows a pattern of casting his cares on God and trusting Him to thwart his enemies plans. We can certainly have the same confidence and trusting God for His ways and His time frame. But all the while He is our hope and our consolation, an ever present help in trouble. It is helpful to know that He knows what we are going through and He cares. It is certainly a reason to have hope and to praise Him, giving Him the worship that is due Him because of how great and awesome He is!

  5. I can relate to David in when I am suffering, I want God to quickly take it away. And we can always say “the Lord is great!” no matter what circumstances we are in. When we acknowledge this and praise him continually, we express our hope in his power to save us and that he is our help and deliverer. I like how this verse expresses this truth:
    20 Though you have made me see troubles,
    many and bitter,
    you will restore my life again;
    from the depths of the earth
    you will again bring me up.
    21 You will increase my honor
    and comfort me once more.
    Thank you God!
