For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. A song.
1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
may his foes flee before him.
2 May you blow them away like smoke—
as wax melts before the fire,
may the wicked perish before God.
3 But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;

  1. God is a God of power and glory and yet He makes His presence known on the earth to vanquish His enemies and help those who are most vulnerable. He is a father to the fatherless and puts the lonely in families. There will be those who try to live independent of Him and even oppose Him, but their efforts will not truly be successful and God will oppose them in the way that is fitting. And yet for those who turn to Him, they will find Him available and able to help in all kind of ways in their lives. They are the ones who will see His glory and power and find His consolation. Those who oppose Him will find a mighty hand against them. But through it all, God is trying to lead people to Himself as He displays His glory in the varied ways He interacts with human kind. And that is why even the most powerful on the earth should exalt and honor Him….because His honor is above anyone else’s honor that they may receive on the earth.

  2. Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth;
    Oh, sing praises to the Lord, Selah

    To Him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which were of old!
    Indeed, He sends out His voice, a mighty voice.
    Ascribe strength to God;
    His excellence is over Israel,
    And His strength is in the clouds.
    O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places.
    The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people.

    Blessed be God!

  3. Psalm 68: God’s enemies are destroyed while God’s righteous people are happy and joyful. This psalm gives many reasons why God is to be praised; he takes care of children with no fathers, widows, and people who are lonely. He leads out prisoners, he provides for the poor. His is a loving, awesome God who goes out before his people. Gods power is great, he can shake the earth, pour down rain, conquer kings and armies and his chariots are beyond number. And we can be assured that he can bear our burdens, grant us his salvation, and save us from death. He gives power and strength to his people. He is to be praised by the nations for all that he is, proclaiming his power, his majesty, and his strength.
