Psalms 68 (NIV)

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. A song.
1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
may his foes flee before him.
2 May you blow them away like smoke—
as wax melts before the fire,
may the wicked perish before God.……Continue Reading

  1. So much of this Psalm is about God’s greatness, victories over kings and rulers and rescuer of His people. And yet what struck me is verse 5 where He is also called “a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,” Such a powerful juxtaposition from this almighty defender to father and caretaker. That is our God! Able to give us victory in ANY battle and still love us so tenderly when we need it….pretty awesome!

  2. Psalm 64 – Yes, there are evil people in our sphere who are nasty, conniving and unjust towards people. And if we get in their way, we can become a target. But God will not let them destroy us. He will protect us from their schemes, and he will deal with them – in his own time. So let God do his work as we live our lives as peacefully as possible.

  3. Reading these psalms a reminder of who God is keeping all things on the earth in balance. Why? So mankind can flourish. And then to think it gets personal. He has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me!!

  4. I noticed the same thing as Kelly. That although God is a powerful God who cannot be assailed by anyone and leads, empower and protects His people, He is also a compassionate God who looks out for those who are weak and vulnerable and takes care of them. How great our God is and worthy of our praise and our trust. David had seen God’s faithfulness before and thereby ask Him to work on their behalf again. He is able to handle our enemies as well. We can trust Him to do what is best with them too.

  5. It is God who gives us power and strength. He will bear our burdens, he will save us from death, he will scatter our enemies. So when we are feeling tired, weak and defeated let us call on the name of the Lord and he will give us everything we need to live our lives with joy and purpose.
