Psalms 66-67 (NIV)

For the director of music. A song. A psalm.
1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
2 Sing the glory of his name;
make his praise glorious.
3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power
that your enemies cringe before you.
4 All the earth bows down to you;
they sing praise to you,
they sing the praises of your name.”.........Continue Reading

  1. Psalm 66: God is to be praised for all that he has done for his people. He is a great God who does marvelous things for us. God tests us so that we can be made stronger as we deal with the struggles of life. He is with us during these times even if we don’t feel it. God hears us when we cry out to him, if we do not cling to sin he will listen. We can praise God always because we know that he will not reject us or withhold his love for us. And we must remember to thank God with our sacrifices when he answers our prayers.

  2. I didn’t want to read Lamentation 5 this morning! I decided to listen to some Psalms instead! I have been listening to the audio version of scripture lately for my devotions through Bible Gateway….another way to take in God’s word.

    Two things about these Psalms. I noticed that they are preaching to the nations, all the earth, all you peoples, these are words for ALL people.

    The other thing, I see that God’s handling of our sin, David’s sin, is consistent. He is forgiving and merciful to us.

    “Come and hear, all you who fear God,
    And I will declare what He has done for my soul.
    I cried to Him with my mouth,
    And He was [d]extolled with my tongue.
    If I regard iniquity in my heart,
    The Lord will not hear.
    But certainly God has heard me;
    He has attended to the voice of my prayer.

    Blessed be God,
    Who has not turned away my prayer,
    Nor His mercy from me!”

  3. God deserves praise and we need to exalt Him for all that He is and all He has done. We should shout to God with joy because He is worthy of all that we can bring Him. He has been good and powerful and acted on our behalf time and time again. He is worthy of praise even for the ways that He has challenged and tested us and yet preserving us in the midst. He is worthy of sacrifice and obedience. In fact those are the best ways to honor Him because we are actually giving up something because we see that He is worthy. He has been gracious and His ways should be known throughout the earth. May He rule the people’s justly and guide the nations of the earth that they would see the benefit that comes from following Him. If only people would recognize Him for who He is……may we and then draw people to recognize Him and believe!

  4. God is great and greatly to be praised. Trials will come and we will be refined like silver but He remains with us at all times.

  5. Psalm 67: This psalm expresses salvation for all people everywhere. When God gives his mercy, blessing and favor to us, people will see how God works in the lives of his people. And the nations will have joy and praise when they allow God to be in control of their lives. It is good to praise God throughout our day and share the good news with all who will listen so they will receive his salvation and blessing.
