Reading along with us in some selections from Psalms and Proverbs? Here’s today’s reading:
Psalms 29-30 (NIV)
A psalm of David.
1 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his of holiness.
3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
When David speaks of the voice of the Lord it reminds me of how afraid they were when God spoke to Moses on the mountain. The power and authority there must have been just incomprehensible to our thoughts.
11You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
This passage reminds me of the power of God. It will do me good to always remember that.
“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.”

Psalms 29-30
Psalm 29-30
Psalm 29
God is worthy of all our praise. There is not enough time or words to regard Him in the way that He deserves. Every aspect of His being is worthy of praise and all of His actions warrant thanksgiving and adoration. What great things we have and can know just because of who He is. What assurance is ours because He is present with us and promises never to leave us or forsake us. What trust and confidence is ours because He is working on our behalf…not to give us what we want necessarily, but to provide what is best for us and to maximize His glory. And when we consider what is due Him, His glory is really all that matters. So may we praise Him not only with our words but also with our lives as well.
