Reading along with us in some selections from Psalms & Proverbs? Here’s today’s reading:
Psalms 12-13 (NIV)
For the director of music. According to sheminith. A psalm of David.
1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
We have moments of doubt that He is with us especially when we are surrounded by such a wicked world but we must trust in His unfailing love knowing He never leaves us!
Psalms 12-13
Well our country is becoming more and more like Psalm 12. So good to know that God cares about honesty, justice and purity and will intervene on behalf of the righteous and the vulnerable. It is good to have the Bible as our guide and have it’s power to renew our minds as we engage with His flawless words. And yet at times we can fell alone and abandoned when God doesn’t seem to be acting in a way that we expect. That is when we have to deepen our faith and not trust feelings and recognize God is with us even when it doesn’t seem like He is. Or in other words be like David who begins the Psalm in doubt and despair and ends it affirmed and loved!
Have to agree Pete. We are a country divided in so many ways. It’s more inspiring talking about God than any topic are news coverages handle.
Amen
Psalms 12 – 13
This passage makes me think about the poor people in the Philippines. They are on lockdown again due to a rising number of covid cases. I pray God will help them, specially my own family who lost their livelihood because of the pandemic.
I’m so sorry, Jill. I am sorry your family lost their livelihood, I will pray for God’s provision for them.
These psalms seem to indicate that not much has changed in the human race. We need to trust God more and more during these times.
Psalm 12 is such a picture of today, but even as bad as I feel about what is going on around me this is a reminder that the Lord is our protecter and we have his word to guide us, and we have prayer that sustains us. In Psalm 13 David was praying for relief from despair and then he’s praising the Lord because he knows he can trust him it’s the same for us if we put our trust and faith in the Lord he will get us through difficult times, and we especially need to be praying these days with all that we see is happening around us, we need to be in his word and close to Jesus.
John 1: 43-51
Psalm 12 is like a cliff hanger. God’s word will prevail, but when vileness is exalted, the wicked prowl.
Psalm 13 David is in despair but reminds himself of God’s mercy and faithfulness.
Psalms 14&15
Psalms 12
Psalm 13
5But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
