Numbers 36 (NIV)
Inheritance of Zelophehad’s Daughters
1 The family heads of the clan of Gilead son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, who were from the clans of the descendants of Joseph, came and spoke before Moses and the leaders, the heads of the Israelite families. 2 They said, “When the Lord commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, he ordered you to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.……Continue Reading
The Lord was just, fair and wise with his solution to the problem. And Zelophehad’s daughters were obedient, doing as the Lord commanded Moses by marrying into their own tribe. When we know God’s answer to an issue in our lives, let us stay on the course of his will and follow through with obedience.
Numbers 35 & 36
The journey through the wilderness comes to an end with the end of Numbers. God established so much throughout this book. He took them out of slavery in Egypt, He provided for them spiritualy and physically, He dealt with their sin and disobedience, He taught them and guided them. It is a book much like our own journeys with God. From lost to found, out of sin and into righteousness. It took the Isrealites 40 years in the wilderness and many of us do not do it much quicker. We are always learning and growing, making mistakes and falling back at the feet of Jesus. Like the Isrealites we are so bleesed to have a God that is always with us and guiding us every step!
Numbers 36
Numbers 34
One of the most important aspects of leadership is to be open to suggestion and be wise and courageous enough to say yes or no. Here Moses reflects those aspects of leadership to accommodate the opinion of tribal leadership and then put conditions because of that on others. The argument made to keep tribal territory within a tribe honors God’s direction and shows appreciation for what He has designed. Even recognizing how His standard of Jubilee would effect that. And yet Zeph’s daughters seem fine to accommodate and so good that fitting husbands are found. Nothing like tying up loose ends before the end of this book that sought to settle the people in the land appropriately.
