  1. Psalm 96:3 (ESV)
     Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

    Israel was to declare God’s glory among the nations. The result should have been as verse 7 calls the nations to ascribe to the Lord … glory and strength. They were even called to bring an offering to God and Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

    God calls us to be His mouthpiece, to say among the nations “The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.” v10.

    In these days of coronavirus, unsettled politics, of violence on every side, God reigns! We of all people should be encouraging men and women to turn and place their trust in Him.

  2. What a great Psalm, as so many naturally are. He is worth a new song, isn’t He? He is worth letting the creative juices flow and pressing the wonder and amazement of His glory. I was struck by the verbal commands in this Psalm: sing, declare, ascribe, worship, say. And they all about verbalizing the expression of praise and worship. I particularly like the word ascribe. In other words direct it towards Him, give credit where credit is due, make sure you let Him know. But why, you might ask? And as you may have heard me say, it is not for God’s benefit. He doesn’t need to be reminded of who He is, but we certainly do. So we can be reminded who we are following and why. So we can remember ass the things God can do in our lives because we are praising Him for doing things in the lives of others or in our past. What a great way to keep God always before us and practicing His presence. That’s exactly what David is telling us to do in this Psalm…..

  3. AMEN

    4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
    he is to be feared above all gods.
    5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
    but the Lord made the heavens.
    6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
    strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
    7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
    8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    bring an offering, and come into his courts!
    9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
    tremble before him, all the earth!
    10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!
    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
    he will judge the peoples with equity.”
