let the many coastlands be glad!
2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

  1. Verses 2 – 5 describe God in ways that mask him in mystery and echoes the description given of him in Exodus 19:16-18 on Mount Sinai. But, when I think of God, I do not think of him in this manner. I think of God as light and approachable as He is described in verse 10-12.
    In this Psalm, God is glorious over all creation and all of its inhabitants. All of those who are wicked should tremble before him while all the righteous rejoice.
    The way I live has an impact on how I respond to God.

  2. When you think of God you usually think of Him as Lightbecause of His Glory. It was interesting to see the description of clouds and darkness.

  3. 12 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
    and give thanks to his holy name!
    Thank you Lord for this day, for your mercy, and for your grace!

  4. Clouds and thick darkness are compelling images to associate with God and yet equally true of Him. As much as He is approachable and able to be understood, we always have to remember Who He is and not be familiar with Him or figure just because we understand what He has made evident about Himself, we will never comprehend Him fully and must be willing to believe and follow even when we don’t understand. It is that balance of love and holiness that makes God so great. It is important to understand that righteousness and justice are at the foundation of His thrown, knowing He always does what is right and is fair in His dealings with man. It is always best to orient every aspect of our lives to Him and believe and follow Him, for all that He promises to provide and for all that He would direct us to do.

  5. 10 O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
    He preserves the lives of his saints;
    he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
    11 Light is sown for the righteous,
    and joy for the upright in heart.
    12 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
    and give thanks to his holy name!
