  1. We ,like David, can find ourselves in pretty dire straights. When we feel alone and no one has our back, what a comfort to know that we can turn to God, Whether we are complaining, crying, weak, guilty or afraid, God is a refuge for us. I say often about Psalms like this, aren’t we glad that God made the expression of deep and at times dark emotion part of His word in the Psalms. We are not the first to feel and think the way we do and we won’t be the last, but God seeks to take it all and comfort and direct us in it and bring us to a place of wholeness and godliness. Even when people are against us , God will secure us within ourselves as well as protect and defend us outside ourselves. We really miss out when we turn to other things rather than turning to God.

  2. David cries out and relies on the Lord in all circumstances. Even when his enemies lay a trap for him on the very path God lays out for him. He looks for assistance from men, but finds none. He praises God and trusts in Him.
