  1. What a comfort to know we always have a place to look when life or people are treating us poorly. And God doesn’t mind when that look is a look of dependence as He tells us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us. It is interesting to see the examples given here of dependent relationships. The fact that slaves would look to gain help from their master the way one would look to the Lord for help shows that the master/slave relationship was much kinder than what we have seen in our history.

And where would we be without God’s mercy? How amazing that God doesn’t give us what we deserve, but instead shines His mercy on us and thereby makes Himself a refuge from the world….

  2. To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned in the heavens!
2Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he has mercy upon us.
