1 The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
2 Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly,
but those who despise him are devious in their ways.

but the lips of the wise protect them...........Continue Reading

  1. This chapter made me think of a child quick to make a decision, rash to choose the short sighted benefit. The world is like children looking for quick and easy gratification. Not thinking things through and seeking God’s counsel.
We must learn to slow down and go to God on ALL things in our lives rather than listening to the smooth talking world that would lead us astray so easily.
I also think of how important (and sometimes how difficult) this lesson can be to teach my children. Being short sighted is their natural, immature tendency (as it is with us sometimes) and showing them that we need to be prudent in our decision making and know that many times the right choice is definitely NOT the easy one!

  2. A reminder for me not to be quick tempered and to be careful with my words. Words can make or break my home.

  3. “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end leads to death.” Man’s wisdom just doesn’t make it. God shows us the way.

  4. Good lessons to live by, we tend to be to quick in decisions instead of waiting on the Lord to lead us. A lot of wisdom in this chapter and also what happens when we don’t wait on the Lord.

  5. Nothing like a Proverb to get you thinking. There are so many good principles in each. The ways of wisdom and the benefits of it are found here..as well as what happens when we are not wise and thereby foolish. God’s ways are always the best ways, and yet how often we get tripped up by the ways that seem right to us. We certainly saw that in Judges, as well as in the world today. Doing the right things usually means restraining/choosing against the wrong thing. We will find ourselves increasingly wise and under God’s and even, at times, people’s favor when we do.

  6. 26Whoever fears the Lord has a secure fortress,
and for their children it will be a refuge.
27The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
turning a person from the snares of death.
