  1. 15 ¶ ‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.
16 ‘You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD.

  2. So this chapter runs through many different laws all of which are followed up with a reminder of who is giving them these laws…the Lord Your God! It is like when a parent says that is the way it is going to be because I am your parent and I know what is best. Our perfect Father provides us instruction and with all the power, love, and mercy He provides we know these laws are for our best interest. Some basic in nature like obeying your parents and being kind to others and others more specific to the fruits of their harvest and avoiding pagan practices but all for the good of His people to keep us on the right path to follow Him and bring Him glory in all that we do.

  3. How great that God establishes a society where the weak and vulnerable would be provided for rather than taken advantage of. That He recognized the importance of honesty, especially when it comes to legal proceedings where right judgments require accurate information. It was also clear that His people were to be influencers, rather than the ones influenced as they interact with the nations around them. I also thought as I read how right Jesus was to say that loving God and loving people summarizes the whole law. Because if we truly did that, it would be natural to follow many of the dictates expressed here in the way that we are to treat God and treat people.

  4. Do not. do not. Do not. Jesus summarizes all of these laws. Love the Lord God with all your heart. And your neighbor as yourselves

  5. Some of these rules for living I understand, some don’t make sense. Most conclude with: I am the Lord.
“Because I said so” from the Lord should be enough of a reason.
