  1. I love the strong visual picture of the cup he uses to describe the Pharisees. A cup can be clean on the outside but if you looked inside to find old drink, dirt, or anything unclean you would never fill and use that cup. It could be the prettiest one on the shelf, but does it matter if if can’t be filled and used. At that point you would grab any old cup that was clean because at least it is ready to be filled. We need worry less about outward appearances and spend more time checking our hearts and minds. We should spend less time judging books by their cover and realize every story is different and still being written by God! He can use anyone, He just needs a humble, open heart ready to be filled!

  2. Finally the Jewish leaders give up as Jesus stumps them about His relationship with David. He is both his Lord and descendant. And then Jesus rakes these same leaders over the coals. He exposes their prideful, greedy and hypocritical lives. Such vivd pictures He provides about how deceived and deceitful they are. And it all makes sense as he describes what they have done and how they have treated people. And yet they will answer for the wrong they have done and Jesus will show Himself to be the true protector, defender and savior of the people.

  3. Day 8- 5.13 Jesus makes it very clear who the Pharisees are and why they are not good examples for people .

  4. Religious leaders in these readings were more impressed with becoming a leader than their loyalty to God. Completely missing the mark. They were serving themselves instead of God and the people. Is a position in a church or a business more important than serving? Sounds like many politicians today. We should care very little about a position. But such an honor and privilege to serve our lord.

  5. ..you say, “If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets. So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!” Jesus knows he is going to die at the hands of the Pharisees like the prophets before him, so he convicts them of their wrongdoing beforehand while he has the opportunity to do so.
