Job 7 (NIV)
1“Do not mortals have hard service on earth?
Are not their days like those of hired laborers?
2 Like a slave longing for the evening shadows,
or a hired laborer waiting to be paid,
3 so I have been allotted months of futility,
and nights of misery have been assigned to me.……Continue Reading

Job 7
Job 7
Job understandably is confused about what is going on and why. He speaks from his hurt, desperation and disillusionment. It is important to remember that Job is not just dealing with the loss of his wealth and children, but is also experiencing great physical pain and discomfort. He welcomes death when it will be over. And to God he asks, why have you done this to me…why have you given me this kind of attention…I feel like a target. We may feel like this at times, but we will probably never face what Job has and we, like Job, always have God as a sounding board and an ever present help in our time of need. And because of Job’s example, we can know that there is always a reason why things are happening and God may be accomplishing something more than we can even imagine.
Have you ever got to a point when you are following directions for something and still the end result is not working; you immediately think well I must be doing something wrong because there is no way the directions would lead me to failure so it has to be me. Job has certainly come to this point with God. He has probably searched and searched his heart and life to an endless point wondering what he did wrong. Unfortunately it is not something he has done but rather something he is becoming, an example of great faith in times of insurmountable trouble! Also a great reminder that God knows all and just because a situation doesn’t look or feel the way we expect doesn’t mean God is not there and rather He might be very intentionally there doing a great work in us!
Job 7
“Have I sinned? What have I done to You, O watcher of men? Why have You set me as Your target, So that I am a burden to myself?”
Job 7:20 NKJV
