Reading along with us in Job? Here’s today’s reading:

Job 24 (NIV)

1“Why does the Almighty not set times for judgment?
Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?
2 There are those who move boundary stones;
they pasture flocks they have stolen.…..Continue Reading

  1. In this lament Job seems to struggle with something many wonder about, why do the wicked seem to go unpunished and in fact even prosper here in this life. We do not always understand God’s plans and we certainly do not know what He is thinking but we must trust. Maybe it does not seem fair that this life can feel so hard for a believer while the evil seem to have it so easy, but we are reminded that when we are looking at forever, something very difficult for our limited minds to really grasp, this life is just a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. So like Job, we might question why judgement doesn’t come to some evil until after this life but we trust God’s plan and need to see things in a more eternal perspective.

  2. Like Job, it is hard to understand why God does not seem to intervene in the injustice that happens in this world. Especially in light of one who is just, like Job,, and he is the one who seems to be being punished. But Job realizes in the end the wicked will come to nothing good…but who wouldn’t want a more immediate punishment to be met on the ones who take advantage of others. But we also cannot look for God to be patient with us and then harsh with others. It is best to leave things such as this to the wisdom, plan and sovereignty of God. He knows best and He knows how He is using so many facets of life to teach us and reveal Himself. God only knows and He knows best.

  3. Job 24

    Those that follow the god of this world get their empty reward here on this earth. We as Christians have our salvation and reward for eternity with God in heaven!

  4. Job 23
    “But God drags away the mighty by his power; though they become established, they have no assurance of life. He may let them rest in a feeling of security, but his eyes are on their ways. For a little while they are exalted, and then they are gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain.”

  5. “They are exalted for a little while, Then they are gone. They are brought low; They are taken out of the way like all others; They dry out like the heads of grain.”
