The Fall of Jerusalem

  1. So I read that this chapter was likely not written by Jeremiah. The chapter is almost a review of everything Jeremiah had prophesied and confirmation of the truth of God’s words coming to pass. Sad that Jeremiah was not able to convince the people to turn from their evil ways and prevent this eventuality but it should be a lesson for us that God keeps His word and God provides instruction on how we should live and if we ignore that instruction it does not end well but there even though things may get difficult having God with you is always the better way.

  2. So sad to see this end that very easily could have been avoided. How tragic that these sacred articles of the temple are taken away and the temple eventually burned. How foolish for Zedekiah to rebel against Babylon and flee from the city against Jeremiah’s (God’s) advice. It was news to me that only 4,000 or so Jews were exiled, meaning the majority of Jews were killed or left behind. And yet God warned and warned and warned that this is what would happen. So it is really no surprise that it did.
