Jeremiah 33 (NIV)

Promise of Restoration
1 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him a second time: 2 “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: 3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ 4 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the houses in this city and the royal palaces of Judah that have been torn down to be used against the siege ramps and the sword.......Continue Reading

  1. The sad picture of Jerusalem given at the start of the chapter as a place or destruction and desolation, abandoned with no people, animals, or vegetation is a great way to see our lives without Christ and the promise of restoration is one of growth, prosperity, blessing, and life. God promised to restore this city as he has promised us restoration through the death and resurrection of His son. Similar to these people that had walked away from God, put idols before Him, and disobeyed…..people today are still not choosing to follow Christ and it will lead to the same destruction but are offered the same Hope and restoration if and when they chose to believe.
    “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty,
    for the Lord is good;
    his love endures forever.”

  2. Been thinking why Jesus spent a whole lifetime on earth why not just the last year or just one week he spent a lifetime and he felt all the emotions we do in this life and so we could go to him with any of our weaknesses and he understands what an incredible awesome God we serve the love for God is absolutely unmeasurable

  3. My spirit is bursting this morning thinking about Jesus came here and lived a whole life and he knew much more than us what it was to be tired and weary and thirsty and hungry and angry and homeless but he spent his life praying to his father on the cross I believe one of his last words was I am thirsty thinking about what he went through during that day probably could hardly get the words out he was in such agony and then I believe he said it is finished I’m just bursting today thinking who our God is and how much he loves us

  4. Although God will punish His people for their disobedience, he will also restore them to the land. It is important to consider Jeremiah giving the Jewish people the same message in order to make sure they get as well as make sure that those who hadn’t heard it can hear it the multiple times Jeremiah speaks it. But God repeats it for us here to make sure we know how committed He is to the plans He makes. He always backs them with action. This is also the second time Jeremiah mentions the righteous branch. This clearly refers to Jesus who is Our Lord our Righteousness and it pushes the fulfillment of these promise through Jesus or at the time of His life or His kingdom still coming. It could also refer to the time when the Jews return from exile and inhabit the land again. It is neat that God compares his commitment to the laws of nature to the commitment He makes to the Jews…..so when the sun doesn’t rise, that’s the sign I am not going to fulfill my promise. In other words, I am going to fulfill it because the sun keeps rising.

  5. ‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah:

    15 ‘In those days and at that time
    I will cause to grow up to David
    A Branch of righteousness;
    He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
    16 In those days Judah will be saved,
    And Jerusalem will dwell safely.
    And this is the name by which she will be called:

    THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’
