God Rejects Zedekiah’s Request
1 The word came to Jeremiah from the Lord when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. 1. Here is a good lesson, that God does what is right not what we want. Zedekiah is hopeful that God will spare them as He had done so many times in the past, but God’s answer is a resounding NO.

  2. Zedekiah, the priests and the officials in Judah should not be surprised by God’s words through Jeremiah. How many times has Jeremiah warned them what was coming and calling them to repentance with the reality that they didn’t repent? And yet how often we go our own way until trouble comes and then turn to God and then get upset that He doesn’t do what we want. We can’t treat God in this way because that is not the way He rolls. We can’t just rub the Buddha belly and put the change in the vending machine and get what we want. God desires relationship that is based in love and respect. He does not like symbol without substance. And the substance: trust and obey, cause there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey……

  3. God’s ways are not easily understood by our small minds. He answers us in His time and in His ways. So important to trust and not spend so much time trying to figure out the “why” in every situation. God is always in control and always knows the big picture and we do not!
