Warning to Pay Attention
1 We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? ……Continue Reading

  1. If the Hebrew Scriptures were binding and important, how much more important and not to be disregarded is the gospel of Jesus and all that He did to accomplish so great a salvation. And God’s future plans are not bound up in angels but the focus is humanity with their flesh and foibles. And yet Jesus shared in our flesh for a while to identify with us and represent us as well. So we could be part of the One who is holy and makes people holy. And He shared in our humanity (and not angels) so He could suffer for us and show us the victory that we can have through Him. Part of that victory is not be afraid of death because in Him we have eternal life. The other part of that victory is victory over temptation. Because He suffers with temptation but was perfect, may we too find the victory that is ours.

  2. All the different ways that God had spoken to mankind in the past, but in reading this chapter today, the message of Jesus is so much greater than the Old Testament message and any message that was from Angels. It’s so great of a message that God is put everything under the charge of Jesus. He is Lord overall, and as the writer continues, we have been set apart and cleansed by God we have the same father we are brothers and sisters in the same family as versus 11 and 13 states, God has adopted all believers as his children. versus 14 and 15 Jesus suffered and rose again so that you could defeat the devil’s power of death so that we know more will fear death, but death is nothing but our doorway to eternal life. No more animal sacrifices, no more list of dues and don’ts once and for all, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and restored our broken relationship with God.

  3. Man struggles so much with humility, many of our issues reverts at its core back to pride and selfishness. Jesus was the absolute antithesis of this! He took the lowly and humble form of man and even more so a poor baby in a stable to come to us. He lived a life in our shoes, He experienced temptation, loss, joy, and love as a human. So overwhelming to think that our Creator, Savior, Redeemer, and Friend did such a thing for us. So, so, so many other ways salvation could happen and yet this is the way He chose. Humility was part of the process, it is our lesson and our example and how we should live to bring glory to Him in gratitude for what He has done for us.

  4. God, who brought everything into existence, had no problem orchestrating the perfect plan to save us. And Jesus, who was fully human in every way, made the necessary atonement for the sins of the people. So He, who is the holiest of holy is the one who makes us holy. And for that reason, he can call us his brothers and sisters. Pretty amazing!

  5. Thanks, Pastor, You summarized nicely.

“For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
