Hebrews 1 (NIV)

God’s Final Word: His Son
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being,……Continue Reading

  1. It is truly incredible that the God of the heavens would reveal Himself to us through His Son living right before humanity on this earth. Therefore we don’t need to be dependent on the revelation that comes from men about God, but words that come from God Himself. And because the Jews thought angels were important and the revelation of God and the law came thorough them, the writer here shows Jesus supremacy over them. So angels are a higher class of being over us, but not higher than Jesus.

  2. What truth is brought out in this chapter. Jesus. Not only the exact representation of God, but he is God himself. The guy that spoke during Old Testament times Jesus and his father created the world. Jesus is the full revelation of God. As Jesus said in John 14, if you have seen me, you have seen the father. There’s no clearer view of God then by looking at Jesus. He is and was the complete expression of God in a human body. He didn’t only create the world but now controls all that it is in heaven and on earth. Don’t ever think anything is beyond his reach. All of our concerns are in his control: our medical problems, finances, our family, etc. There’s no human being that can handle your problems then what Jesus can do. As we pray to Him and listen to Him in His word, He sustained us through life.

  3. So much is used to describe Jesus in this chapter. Why He was so different than any prophet before or after Him. Why He was better than any angel. How He was more than sent by God but that He was God sent. Jesus was described in this chapter as and forever will be the Heir, the Creator, the Revealer, the Sustainer, the Redeemer, Ruler, and Supreme. But probably most meaningful to me is that He is personal. Being all those things He still desires a relationship with us, He walked with and talked with people here on lowly earth….just an overwhelming thought!

  4. Some truths about Jesus: He displays God’s glory. All who look to him can see an exact representation of God’s being. Out of his abudant love he provided purification for our sins. He resides in heaven sitting at the right hand of the God. He is superior to the angels. He laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of his hands. He will reign forever!

  5. “has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
